PLEASE HELP!: I am on a new computer so I decided to download Minecraft.

I legit bought it, but I downloaded it from the official minecraft website, and it keeps downloading 1.4.4? I can't find an update button?

That is the most recent version of the Launcher, and by default it should download the latest version of Minecraft, currently 1.7.10.

You can also configure it to download previous Minecraft versions and 1.8 bug-testing shapshots.

Minecraft Launcher's up-to-date version is 1.4.4. You can play Minecraft 1.7.10 with it.
