Okay so my cousin has had massive problems. We have tried so, so, SO many things to fix this. Here are the issues:
Symptoms
- He times out in multiplayer within a few minutes
- Only one chunk renders (the one around him)
- Blocks will not drop when broken
- He cannot interact with anything/see chat etc.
- He SOMETIMES gets the error: an established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine
Hohoho, and the weird part: This happened out of nowhere (he was playing fine prior to yesterday)
AND THEN: It now only functions at certain times of day, which is 2am to around 7am) then it breaks again
(Get ready to check almost everything off your list)
- Uninstalling 64bit Java
- Uninstalling 32bit Java
- Uninstalling both 32bit and 64bit Java and then installing one or the other at one time
- Resetting the router
- Resetting the router to default settings
- Resetting the router by pulling the power and waiting for 5 minutes
- Disabling the wireless access in case having other connections was lagging him
- Tested if his connection was fine with speedtest.net and trying out other games (ping and speeds are fine)
- Allocating various amounts of RAM to the client (from 1G default to stuff like -Xmx3072m -Xms1536m)
- Completely deleting Minecraft (and all the associated files)
- Firewall has been off
- Minecraft added to many exclusion lists (Antivirus, Firewall etc)
- Checked process list for any shenanigans
- Made sure Java is working properly
- Updated GPU driver (ATI)
- Tried various servers and realms to see if it was my realm that was the issue somehow
Can't even remember what else for now, will add more things we did when I remember.
SPECS
Windows 7 64bit
8GB RAM
Some ATI radeon card with updated drivers
It's a HP Laptop
I have helped him optimize it so there isn't any crappy background things that could be affecting the game/his connection
We're really stumped
*EDIT* Sorry for creating 2 threads! The site wasn't responding and I clicked the button twice.
