I'm playing single player and have had this world for about a month. Last night I noticed while I was running to my bed, as soon as I got in my house, it placed me way back at my cow farm (about 40 blocks away). didn't anything of it, saved, got off. Now whenever I get in my world it lags horribly. I can't open iron doors with buttons (it takes about two full minutes for the doors to open) However I can open gates with no lag. My one and only redstone timer is off. My allocated RAM is 3GB. I have no mods, even tried it without my texture pack. I reinstalled the launcher. I am using version 1.7.9
I also downloaded and ran Minecraft region Fixer and it found no errors.
Could be something to do with corrupted chunks, although I believe that normally causes framerate lag and lag spikes rather than what you're experiencing. Try looking in MCEdit.
It was my iron farm. For some reason 8 of the 16 pods continued to breed villagers. There was well over 100 villagers in them each. Once I got 3 of the 16 cleared the lag was completely gone. For those with iron farms - partition the villagers to their own separate corners once you have 4 in a pod to avoid this. I have no idea how it only happened to exactly half of my pods.
