We have a household LAN with 2 Windows 8.1 computers. The computers are both connected the same way (they share a switch), and they both access the internet via the same router.
One of these two computers runs Minecraft fine and can connect to any server we throw at it, regardless of which user is logged in. The other works fine when I log into it, and works fine for most servers for my son when he logs in. However, for some reason two minecraft servers always time out for my son.
Servers that work just fine for him: Minecade (24.cbga.me) or Redwarfare (play.redwarfare.com)
Servers that fail for him on one computer but work for me on both: Orecraft (orecraft.co.uk), Fade (fadeprison.com)
I've tried appending the port number and turning off the firewall to no avail. One difference is that my son's account is limited. However, that is true on the computer that works too. Any idea what else I should check?
