I successfully installed Forge for Minecraft 1.6.4. When I tried to add a mod called "Too Much TNT" I put it inside the mods folder in the .minecraft folder and it didn't work. Its my first time using and downloading mods, so I don't know much about this.

The version of the mod is 1.6.4 only for Forge. When I started to play Minecraft with the Forge profile that I made, I went to he mods section in the main menu but the mod wasn't there. Even when I went to my singleplayer world, there wasn't anything related to the mod such as other types of TNT's.

When you are in the MC Launcher, go to the profile called "Forge", click edit profile, and under the version, make sure it is on the Forge version.
(It's really long and crazy, you'll know when you see it)

Yeah, you need to extract the zip. Inside there's a folder called "Too Much TNT v2.6". Place that folder in "mods".

It's rare but some mods just need a few extra steps to work.
