I haven't been able to connect to very many Minecraft servers in the past 48 hours, and I can't figure out why. I can only connect to the really big servers (Minecade, Mineplex, Hypixel, ect.), and one or few other, smaller (50-100+ people on at a time) servers. Whenever I try to connect to any other servers, it says "java.net.ConnectionException: Connection refused"
Do I just need to update my Java? I use a Mac OS X 10.6.8, and I think my Java is the newest level, since I can't find where the Java controls are
It could be that you are using the wrong version of minecraft. try using an older version of minecraft (anything but 1.7.9). I have had this issue with servers that haven't been updated yet.
