So my .minecraft folder is somehow empty, but when I click the launcher, it won't open!

Sounds like you need to do a full re-install of MC. Delete your .minecraft fully and the launcher file/shortcut. Afterwards head back over to minecraft.net download the latest version and launch it. This should re-install/refill your .minecraft with the appropriate stuff.

All I get is an empty folder again!

When the launcher does not open, this could mean that you have a corrupt installation of Java.

Please remove Java from the machine from the control panel. Restart the computer, then grab the latest here,

If you have a 64-bit OS, please make sure to grab the 64-bit version of Java instead.

It asks to start up Minecraft.jar up.OK, so I tried to run it, and then it said it wasn't working, and said to close program.

COMODO: *closes*
About a second later...

Windows: Java SE binary (I think that's what it was called) is not responding
*insert loading bar here*
Windows is trying find a solution...

Then it tells me to close the program.
