I was unsure of exactly where to post this question, so if there is a more obvious place to put it (that I missed somehow), please let me know and I'll post it there instead (or as well).
So...
I am in the middle of developing the landscape (etc.) for my new Vanilla server. I created a nifty course to run through that is an inventive way to do a rundown of the server rules/expectations (IMHO).
My problem is merely this:
The current new spawn for players is at -13x, 79y, -20z and I want it set for 0x, 204y, 0z...
How do I change this?
If I cannot change it, new players to the server will start outside of the server intro course, and I will have wasted about 2 whole days of building/writing for nothing.
I am running Minecraft 1.7.9 on Windows, no mods (yet), and hosting it from my new home computer.
Everything else is working fine, but before I even think of opening this to the public, I need to ensure new players will begin in the right place, or else the whole thing is ruined.
Thanks, fellow Minecrafter, for your speedy reply!
This is a simple command that works in vanilla, just do the following: /spawnpoint [PLAYER] X Y Z
If you follow that format, you can set the spawn point for each player to any coordinate you want. Good luck with you and your friends' server!
See, that's the problem.
By the time I see a player on my server for the first time, they will have already spawned at the default spawn point (-13,79,-20).
That defeats the entire purpose of having them start in the "server rules" section, as they will be outside of it.
What I need is a way to set the default (first spawn) point to what I want it to be (0,204,0).
If anyone knows that, please let me know.
Thanks.
Well, the only other way to really set the default spawn point is with a simple bukkit plugin. Try this, create some pressure plates where the players spawn, and link them to a command block that will teleport them to the new spawn as well as set their spawn there. If that does not work, you'll have to get a bukkit plugin called essentials.
Yeah - I saw that on some guy's YouTube video and thought, well damn - I don't want that unsightly thing marring the landscape of my Vanilla server...
So what is this "Essentials" option you speak of? Have you ever done that one? Do you know how it works?
If so, I would greatly appreciate it if you could describe that particular process, as I was considering downloading Essentials eventually anyway.
Basically, essentials just adds simple commands. When you download it you get multiple files of plugins, you will only need Essentials and EssentialsSpawn. The plugin pretty much just adds common commands like /message, /balance, etc. The plugin does not effect gameplay or chat at all, you can just simply install it and not even have to use it, not to mention if you install the two you can just do /setspawn to make a default spawn. I highly recommend it, here is the link, you can read up on it more if you wish http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/essentials/
If it actually works as easily as all that, then that's exactly what I'm looking for.
It's too bad that Mojang doesn't have a similar command yet, considering most good servers I know have wanted their spawn number to be perfect center (0,0) or else some other significant number to the Owner.
Oh well... maybe they'll get the memo someday.
Thanks again.
