I'm having an issue with installing Forge 1.7.2. Although the Forge installer says it was installed, I get a Windows message saying the installation wasn't incorrect. When I start the game, in the mod options i have this message:

I've tried both the recommended and latest installer with completely fresh Minecraft installs. Here is the latest log from my last attempt to install:
I've looked around for a tutorial for manually installing this version of Forge but they're either out-of-date, don't actually show a manual install or are confusing as bleep. I also am having problems opening.json files so if you point me to a manual tutorial, please tell me how I can open these files!
