So ive installed the mac version of forge and when i go onto the minecraft launcher and create a new profile using the forge version for 1.7.2 my game keeps on crashing. Can anyone help me? im on a mac playing 1.7.9.....

i figured out what happened: some of my mods werent compatible with forge 1.7.2 only forge 1.6.4

As has been previously stated, there's no Mac specific version of Forge. If you use the Forge installer, it will create a profile for you during the install.
The biggest red flag for me right now (since you haven't posted the crash report), is that you've installed the 1.7.2 version of Forge, yet you say you're running 1.7.9. If this is actually the case,and not just a typo, that's probably the problem.
If it is indeed a mistype, please post the crash report you were given within spoiler tags [spoiler ] [/spoiler ]

All you need to do is grab the Forge installer and use it. Then go to <systemname> /Library /Application Support /minecraft /mods (You can also just change your profile to forge, click "Edit Profile", and click "Open Game Dir", and find the "mods" folder) , and drag the other mods' zip/jar files into that folder. Then, start up the game, and you're done! Hope this helps.

uhhhh, i already figured it out.... I made the new profile for 1.7.2 forge before i started this thread. Again, the problem was that i gad a mod that wasn't compatible with forge 1.7.2 only forge 1.6.4.....
