I think I already know the problem is that my laptop is just not good enough to handle this many mods but I would really like to find some workaround so I don't have to give up on this server I've spent so much time on already.
I created my own custom mod pack and tested it many times for errors and crashes. I got it working just right and started a LAN server to play with my brother. The server is hosted on a separate computer with 4GB allocated RAM for just 2 people. I haven't really looked into how the server is doing with everything other than RAM but it has yet to crash or even lag so I think it's fine. My brother plays fine on his laptop but his has double the stats of mine across the board.
My client is the only one that gets the problem. It freezes every 5-10 minutes and I have to force close Minecraft and restart to play again. It worked just fine for a while after I first started the server but after our base grew and we added more and more complex auto farms and mod machines my game started to do this. I get a pretty stable 30 fps, which is normal even for vanilla on my laptop, but the game just freezes and leaves no crash report or any way for me to find the true problem.
My laptop:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Dual Core i5-2450M CPU @ 2.5GHz each
4 GB RAM
64-bit OS (using 64-bit Java to run Minecraft)
I'm using Minecraft version 1.6.4 for the pack. I've tried allocating between 1 and 3 GB of RAM when starting it but it did nothing but improve my fps at 1 GB.
Mods I'm using (excluding core mods and child mods):
Armor Status HUD
Status Effect HUD
Applied Energistics
Buildcraft
Carpenter's Blocks
Chicken Chunks
Chisel
Thermal Expansion
Ender Storage
Forestry
Gendustry
Gregtech
Industrial Craft 2
IC2 Nuclear Control
Inventory Tweaks
Iron chests
JABBA Better Barrels
Minefactory Reloaded
NEI and NEI plugins
OpenBlocks
Railcraft
Simply Jetpacks
Waila
Wireless Redstone (Chickenbones)
XACT
Specifically I'm looking for any of these mods that are known to cause issues or some tricks to reduce computer load. I'm thinking about making my brother an admin to move some of the more complex farms far away and put a chunk loader on them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
