Tried to install Optifine however... I have a SSD for my operating system, and an 1tb HDD for my storage (MC included) I've attempted to put the optifine jar in various locations in the folder including swapping out the 1.7.9 optifine for the 1.7.9 jar and renaming it, the problem seems to arise from the launcher, which immediately assumes that all the MC folders is located in the C: drive where in reality mine is located in the D: drive is there a workaround for this? I've even attempted to run the jar directly from the .bat file that tells MC to install to the D drive instead of the usual C drive location.
