I am stuck on downloading terrain in singleplayer mode in minecraft 1.7.2 in Windows. What happens is that I click on my game after selecting singleplayer mode, and after it loads, the home screen flashes again, only for a split second, and the loading screen pops back up, this time reading, "Downloading Terrain". It stays like that and does not change at all; one time I walked out of the room for five minutes, only to come back to find that my game was still "Downloading Terrain". I have spent hours researching this problem online and have tried changing the render distance to every possible setting, as that seems to be the most common fix, to no avail. (I have also tried many other "solutions" and "fixes", some from this very site.) I also find that this happens mostly on computers running mods or Optifine, in which case I am not doing; I have absolutely no mods that I am aware of. I'm actually doing sort of good in my game and have had it for a while, so I don't want to lose it. Any suggestions? Please do not reply if you are just going to post something like, "Yeah, me too", because I am already aware that I am not the only one experiencing this problem.
