I've downloaded minecraft plenty of times on plenty of machines, many different ways. My issue is, I want to do it the legit way and now I purchased a premium account and go to download my .exe and yes, it downloads, but comp mode, admin, nothing makes it do anything. It doesn't download or extract .minecraft or anything. I've uninstalled all other forms of Minecraft, and java. (reinstalled Java) Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
If it doesn't run, your Java installation may be corrupt.
Please remove all, and I mean all mentions of Java from the machine via the control panel. Reboot the computer, the grab the latest here, http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Please get the 64-bit version if you have a 64-bit OS.
Still not working, uninstalled everything and reinstalled only the 64bit jre7u60. During reinstallation however it did give me an error saying I was missing an install.dll file in my java folder. Made no sense to me because java wasn't installed yet. Not sure whats going on.
Is there anywhere that I could possibly download the .minecraft files and pull a launcher from there?
I just installed the minecraft.jar for "linux". Everything seems to be working. I guess something went wrong with Windows8, if anyone else has this issue just try the linux/other download option.
