Hi! So, today I thought I would set up a LAN world on singleplayer for me and my brother to play on. I looked up a tutorial on how to set one up, and tried it. I created a new singleplayer world, clicked the "Open to LAN" option, then the "Start LAN World" option. Following the directions in the tutorial I opened another Minecraft tab, selected "Multiplayer" and found the LAN world I had set up. Below that was the IP that I gave to my brother to use. He entered the IP I gave him into the "Direct Connect" tab, and clicked "Join Server" We waited a few moments and on the screen was "Connecting to Server" It took about 10 seconds until this popped up:
java.net.connectexception: connection timed out: no further information
I created a new LAN server and gave him another IP to try. The same thing happened. We are both connected to the same Wi-Fi network, and his Windows Firewall is disabled. We are also both on the same version, 1.7.9. He is on Windows 7 and I'm on Windows 8 though I don't think that has anything to do with it.
Thanks!
