Please provide your development console log. Though the fact that you have Norton may have something to do with it. Norton's Antivirus program and firewall are known to interfere with Minecraft's login and server-joining process. Currently the only way to fix it is to uninstall it. We recommend Avast! AntiVirus as an alternative.
I have the same problem. My computer has Norton and it would start up fine before Monday. I don't know why. I've re-installed Minecraft and Nvidia drivers and deleted ".minecraft". I can try Avast!, but I have Norton for free from my family's acount. I know Avast! is free. I'm a die-hard OptiFine fan, and I use it but my problem is with the launcher opening. I've tested Borderlands 2 and Team Fortress and they work. I don't know what to do! PLEASE HELP!

This has been happening since I updated Java, but even deleting and downloading it again won't work.
The current Java that I use is Java Version 5.5 and I have Norton Security and run as an admin on my computer.
Note: I have tried deleting my minecraft and reinstalling it. I have also tried deleting my .minecraft folder too.
