Ok, I have recently reset my computer because I was having many freezing issues. All files were deleted so i had to download all files again. I downloaded the recent updated version of java, then went and downloaded the minecraft.exe. I tried to open it and it wouldn't. I tried a few more times and i got it to show the launcher launching but then just crashes. I then went to the .minecraft folder to see and there were no files in it. I then kept trying when eventually i got the 3 launcher files to load, i clicked the luacher executable jar file, which then popped up that it was a corrupt .jar file. Then i went to find that minecraft was a incompatible application. I checked all settings on my computer and re-installed java many times, and the minecraft would still not launch or load the files into the .minecraft. I have windows 7 ultimate, with the processor being a AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor with 3.60 Ghz. I also have the RAM being 8.00 GB. If anyone could help me resolve this problem i would be greatly thankful.
You do not run the files that are placed into the .minecraft folder. The file you downloaded from the website is the launcher.
Now, when you tried to run that file, you said it will not pop out? If it does pop out, what does it say? Are you able to provide the development console log? It'd located on the second tab of the launcher if it loads.
