Hi people from the minecraft forum, this is my first post in here. To begin I ask for tolerance with my grammar, correct me if I am wrong (bilingual Hispanic).
So I was playing survival with some mods, everything was awesome until one day I runned minecraft, then clicked singleplayer, then I choosed my modded survival that I usually played, and all the progress that I had was erased completely, I still have the folder were I saved that map, so i got two questions for you:
Do I have to start another map?
Can I recover the progress I had in that map?
Its probable when you opened the map in non modded minecraft it deleted all the modded items/blocks and then saved the map, so unless you have a backup of that world the items are now gone
I stand corrected
Btw don't worry about none tolerance to your grammar etc, we do not allow grammar nazi's on this forum and understand that not everybody speaks perfect English. I'm English and often mess up my grammar

Not likely really. Only forge has the ability AFAIK to delete missing block IDs and items. If it were vanilla minecraft, it simply would downright crash to desktop probably or to main menu if lucky. Unless this has changed in vanilla, I do not ever remember seeing such being said in change-logs for Minecraft.
Make a test map and spend about 30 mins on it doing all sorts of test setups, probably do an creative map at best. Try to make a test/demo area in which each area consist of a different mods items if possible. Then save all and exit if wanted and test to see if everything is still there.

Ah i didn't realise that, i play modded using FTB and the saves are in a total different location, just copied a save and your right, crash.
When you say, all your progress was erased, do you mean the map started over, like a new world? Please provide more details of what happened.
For example, if you play in a snapshot, then go back to a release version, all your chests will be empty. However, your house and other structures will still be there. Just your inventory will be lost.
If you really started over. New world with no items or achievements, then it's unlikely you will be able to recover anything. There is a thread on this forum for recovering corrupted saves, but I don't know if that will help.
I had something similar happen once. I was moving inventory between my 2 bases, and I was in a boat on the way to my island when I saved. When I loaded the game later, I found I was still in the boat, and still had all the items I was wearing and carrying (armor, weapons, tools, inventory), but everything else was gone. I could not find my island until I realized the map had reset to the new world default. My island was there, but it was empty. No house. No mine. No nothing. Just the island I had found way back when I had first started the world.
Fortunately I make regular backups of my game saves, so I was able to load a backup.
Eventually, though, I started playing the lost world as well. It was kind of like playing a new world with the best bonus chest ever! Full diamond armor, weapons and tools, not to mention an inventory full of valuables. I had been carrying diamonds, iron and other good stuff. But what was really interesting was all that stuff was still in the ground on the reset map, so I got to go and mine it all over again!
Anyway, sorry for rambling. If your map truly reset and you lost all items and progress, then I hope you have a backup, or you are probably out of luck.
