I'm trying to play the latest version of Tekkit (1.2.9e, uses Minecraft 1.6.4) and when playing multiplayer while connected to my own Tekkit server (running on the same machine) I get this stutter that emulates a heartbeat, freezing for a very brief but very noticeable amount of time every second.
The stuttering is not present in single player.
Things I've tried:
Allocating more RAM to javaw.exe
Allocating more RAM to the server jar
Configuring graphics settings in numerous ways (enabling/disabling V-Sync, Triple Buffering w/ nVidia Control Panel, lowering view distance, chunk loading settings, etc)
Installing OptiFine for 1.6.4 on Tekkit client-side
Installing OptiFine for 1.6.4 on the Tekkit server
-The only exception to this is that installing OptiFine for 1.6.4 on the server seems to crash the server, even though the crash doesn't seem to come from OptiFine (it looks like it comes from Buildcraft, based on what the console says)
-I've tried every build of OptiFine Ultra that works with Minecraft 1.6.4 by dropping the jar into the mods folder of the Tekkit server.
I can't find any other fix anywhere than to either allocate more memory to javaw or the server, or to install OptiFine, none of which worked.
Computer Specs:
Windows 7 64-bit
Intel Core i5-370 CPU 3.4GHz
16384MB RAM
nVidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti
I have 64-bit Java JRE7
I can post crash reports if needed.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Edit: Tried disabling auto-saving on the server using save-off command, didn't work. However, after using save-all, there is a brief few seconds where the stuttering stops. I've pretty much determined that the auto-saving is the cause of the lag, but I can't seem to change it. (OptiFine configures auto-saving, was not aware of this)
