Hello, I am running into some issues. I really want to travel back in time to 4 years ago and play some alpha 1.2.6 with mods, but the new launcher just won't let me do anything with it even after I manually installed all the mods and renamed the folder, json (and inside the json), and the jar. The modded jar will show up on the drop down list as a viable option, but when I click play, it downloads something too fast for me to read it, and then nothing. Nothing pops up, and I need to manually go through my processes and stop two minecraft exes (I assume the launcher and the game) from running.
The weird part is that my computer says one is taking up 34k of memory, and the other is taking 154k (roughly) of memory. The reason I find that weird is because nothing ever shows up on my desktop or running applications on my task manager. Somehow my computer is using the normal amount of memory to run the game for 1.7.4 full release (154k+) yet nothing else suggests it even existing on my computer.
Honestly, why can't we simply just manually mod the jar like old times and run it, why do things need to be this complicated! Any suggestions would be nice. And to add an extra detail, there was no crash report, nothing to suggest there was a crash at all, simply nothing. And yeah, I have the auto ask Mojang for assistance upon crash option checked.
Here is a list of things I did:
1--Ran the alpha 1.2.6 jar normally.
2--Renamed the profile name, version folder, jar file, json file, and inside the json file where it says id "a1.2.6" All of them were renamed to 1.2.6mods
3--Deleted META-INF and added only risugami's modloader. That alone I know for a fact never crashed the game before on it's own.
4--I edited my profile and selected old_alpha a1.2.6mods
5--Clicked play, and of course, nothing happened like I mentioned above.
6--So I booted up Magic Launcher, something I haven't used in a log time and tried to run it with that. This time the launcher didn't vanish, but the game never started, nor did it show up in my performance manager, process manager, anything like that.
7--I deleted the native folder holding all the random .dlls
8--Repeated steps 5 and 6 with absolutely no change in results.
