I've been working on this map for a very long time and yesterday when I went on to work on it more, there was suddenly a large black hole in the world that looks like it hasn't loaded. I've had this happen before on various worlds so I went to walk over it but I couldn't enter the black area without it glitching and pushing me back. I can fly over it but I have to be quite a ways up. The world was originally made with snapshots on as I had forgotten about them but the error occurred after I had turned snapshots off. I don't know if its related but I'd really like to salvage the world, I put a great deal of work into it.
Your world probably got corrupted from constantly switching between versions. If your world got corrupted you can try to repair it with MCEdit. Open the offending world in MCEdit, press 'ctrl-i' and select 'Repair regions' in the dialogue which pops up. Once this has completed, save your world and exit MCEdit.
To download MCEdit, go to http://www.mcedit.net/ and choose the version appropriate for your OS.
Thanks so much! That did the trick! Reverted the section back to how it was when the world was new so I have to rebuild that section but at least the world was saved!
