Hello! My name is SkilledPhoenix. In December 2013 I got 8 GB of ram and installed it into my computer. After I allocated 8 GB of ram to my minecraft (With the 8 GB in total I have 12) Minecraft was going smoothly I could run minecraft with all settings. After 1 week of Non-Lag Minecraft, it started to lag worse then when I had 4 GB of ram. Then when I opened minecraft it said "Error: Could not create the java Virtual Machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred. program will exit." Now I can only have 1 GB on minecraft and then it will open. Can anyone help please???? Sorry for my spelling Errors
Allocating more ram\memory to minecraft will actually decrease your FPS, Best way to do it is decrease the memory minecraft uses if possible. Posting your computer specification will also help, processor, video card (if you have one).
Then when I opened minecraft it said "Error: Could not create the java Virtual Machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred. program will exit." Now I can only have 1 GB on minecraft and then it will open.
When this occurred you must have switched from 64bit Java to 32bit Java. Perhaps you did a Java update, perhaps you uninstalled and reinstalled (the wrong one). 32bit Java is limited to around 1.5G of heap before it will fail with that error message.
Even with leaving the memory configuration at the defaults, 64bit Java often performs better with minecraft on 64bit OSes.
About the "Error: Could not create the java Virtual Machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred. program will exit." - You probably use the 32-bit version. Uninstall it and install the 64-bit from here
Running Minecraft with 2GB of RAM is enough. Otherwise, it would lag even more.

Lets get something cleared up. these messages are being showed because you are giving Minecraft more RAM than you have. In order to check your RAM go to control Panel and Click My Computer and it should show your RAM. The OS needs 1G to operate also

You do not want 8GB of ram into minecraft when you have 12 you need some for background task and your operating system. And you cant add more then 4 GB cause you might have a 32 bit system or you have 32 bit java witch is recommended to have both 32 and 64 bit for minecraft if you have a 64 bit operating system. Another note is that you may want to consider getting optifine. It is a mod that is supposed to help minecraft performance and i have gain 40 fps from it now running it at 120 fps on average. And it can be your cpu and graphics card so i also recommend upgrading your power supply mother board video card and cpu cause right now your system is a HUGE bottleneck
