When tabbed out of Minecraft(Browser on other monitor), it will claim it's not responding. However I can see that the game is running with perfect frames without any hesitation. My cpu usage only ever goes up to 50% running Minecraft, and my graphics card drivers as well as Java are fully updated.
Like you, and a few others, this seems to be an incredibly new problem. I too am suffering from it. When I tab out of Minecraft, it will crash when I attempt to tab back in. This does not happen every time, and when it does, Minecraft will sometimes respond and begin working normally again. However sometimes this is not the case. And like you, even though it says the program is not responding, I can see that Minecraft is still running fine with normal FPS.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Java six different ways, but it has not helped. I've also deleted .minecraft, but that did not help either. I do have another idea of what the problem might be... Do you have an AMD GPU? I'm thinking it MIGHT have to do with the new 14.6 beta drivers. But that really is just a guess.
Anyone else out there with any idea of what might be causing this?

I do have an AMD card. However I haven't downloaded the beta drivers. Running Java 32x was a temporary fix for me, which of course limits my frames quite heavily while running a server or other such tasks.
I really have no idea. This all started for me three days ago when I attempted to run Minecraft Forge 1.6.4. Minecraft would crash while in a world and even in the main menu. Now it's affecting my 1.7.9 Craftbukkit server.
EDIT:
And for fun, here are my PC specs (or the ones that matter):
AMD FX 8320 3.5 GHz CPU
ASUS HD 7870 2GB GPU
8 GB RAM
Unexpectedly found Ratpr on my computer. I don't even know where the flip it came from! I hadn't even heard of Raptr before any of this. Anyhoo, I uninstalled it and things seem to be running smoothly again. So happy a solution was found to this problem!
Raptr seems to have been installed with an update to the AMD drivers. I'm not sure if it was just an option I happened to forget to untick but I noticed it started up when I rebooted my PC one time. It's some program called "AMD Gaming Evolved" when it's running, that seems to have raptr built into it or something...
I'll be uninstalling to test if that's what is causing the game to stop responding when I alt tab. The game resumes fine after a minute or longer of waiting but that's just unacceptable. It's a shame because I kind of liked the program.
Editing to confirm that uninstalling raptr seems to have solved the problem with minecraft not responding when alt tabbing. All is well, thanks again to the people who found this out.

Aha! I just happen to have installed Raptr at what would seem to be the time of which the errors occurred. All seems to be working good, thanks!
