i am on a mac with the windows disc running the minecraft launcher v:1.4.4
I am running minercaft v:1.7.9

Your graphics card isn't supported in windows 8.1 due to its age, AMD have not made drivers for windows 8.1 for and graphics cards HD4XXX and older.

You need to downgrade windows to 8 or lower, or get a newer graphics card.
