So after playing Minecraft on a server for a while, I decided to play try and join my little brother's Minecraft opened-to-lan world. Except when it was opened to lan, I couldn't find it.
I checked my Windows Firewall, and all the Java rules are enabled.
I disabled Windows Firewall, and still couldn't find the lan world.
I deleted the .minecraft folder from AppData and redownloaded everything and I still can't find the lan world.
I googled around and looked at probably 20 or 30 posts about lan worlds, and the fix for all of those was enabling Java rules in Advanced Firewall settings. My Java rules are enabled but still no lan.
All my server worlds pop up instantly, but the lan one--never. I find this odd, considering that I lanned over spring break (in March) with some people. The only things that I have done between then and now that may have messed up the lanning are:
1. Uninstall AVG
2. Turn on Windows Firewall
3. Update wireless card drivers about a month ago
If I can think of anything else I did, I will post about it.
Ok, so just go into multiplayer, then direct connect then type in your local ip (at the time) followed by the port. If you need help with finding them just ask me
Hope i helped,
