The launcher is showing an error when attempting to start. Updated JAVA and deleted the minecraft directory. The launcher has ADMIN permisions. I have no idea how to fix this. Even turned off firewall, anti virus..bla, bla...the usual stuff.
I can't even post the error info, the box that shows the information will not permit 'copy' so I can paste the information.
It shows 'no update found' then indicates 'reversing LZMA'
FATAL ERROR: net.minecraft.bootstrap.FatalBootstrapError: unable to un-pack200: Java.io.FileNotFoundException'
There's a lot more in the message but this is the gist of it, I can't copy paste it for some reason, I guess the console does not have that function?
It looks as if it's not even downloading the file for some reason. I have been playing Minecraft from InfDev on and have never had any issues with my account. Thanks.
I try to copy to paste the info and there is no option to do that, I could try to type it all in but at my age I don't think it would be very accurate. I was hoping someone would have seen this issue already....

I did that, I even set it in the properties tab long before I resorted to the forums. I did a ton of searching on the internet as well and could find nothing very helpful.

I just finished successfully installing JAVA from the standalone installer and then ran Minecraft as administrator and got the same error, apparently JAVA is not the problem.
I just finished restoring the computer to a previous date point from about a week ago and it is working now. I was trying to avoid doing this as it has created issues of it's own but I know how to work those out. Thanks for your help. Not sure how to close the thread but I guess that's it.
