i cant find or join anyones lan?

ive been trying to play lan with my friend, but we cant find each others games, we even tried on ftb and tekkit, still doesnt work, and yes we are right next to eachother, please help thanks.

The only thing I know to say is make sure you are both on the same internet connection.

we are, we cant seem to find the problem, it happened today with another game aswell? :L
