I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 a few hours ago. Minecraft, being my most used game on my PC, was one of the first programs I installed. However, when I tried playing, the launcher threw a "Lack of updated graphics drivers" error. This had never happened to me on Windows 7. I followed instructions on Mojang's support website and ran the dxdiag. The scan displayed that everything was fine, as well as the AMD driver checker. Here's my dxdiag: http://pastebin.com/SV97tPWK.
your dxdiag post has vanished.
but as you have said your using windows 8.1 i'll take a stab in the dark and guess your graphics card doesn't have the correct drivers due to it being an older graphics card.
If it happens you have an AMD HD4XXX or older then you won't find drivers as they didn't make any for windows 8.1 and a winfdows downgrade would be required or an upgrade to a newer graphics card.

Woops! Sorry about that! After sifting through some old threads, I found a solution. I found drivers that were for Windows 7, installed them and it worked beautifully! Sorry for any trouble I may have caused you!
