Basically, I have windows 8 which does not support 64 bit java which I think may be the problem as to why my minecraft launcher keeps crashing instantly after the "Mojang" loading thing disappears. Any suggestions as to how the hell I am to play this game now?
I know some Java so hopefully I can help. Please fill this out so I can help you.
Do you have a 64-bit computer?
Look in start, right click "Computer" then properties and look under system for "System type:"
Do you have 64-bit Java?
Look in C:\Program Files for Java, if it's not there, look in C:\Program Files (x86) for Java, if it's not there either, then that's the problem.
Does it show anything in the Development Console?
Start the Minecraft launcher and click the "Development Console" tab, highlight all the text (Ctrl + A), copy it (Ctrl + C) and paste it in a post (Ctrl + V).

You should know that Windows 8/Windows 8.1 does not have a start menu (unless you count the "metro" interface). what he needs to do is right click the bottom left of the screen in any app (if running windows 8.1, the windows 8 logo should appear when you hover). Then he should click "System".
