So a few months ago I had this same issue and it has not resolved itself. If I try and make MC use more than 1300mb of ram it won't run. "Error: error could not create the java virtual machine, error: a fatal exception has occurred. program will exit".\
So I drop it down to 1gb and the game loads fine at first, then after a few seconds of flying about the framerate drops to 1fps and is impossible to play.

I updated java and the MC launcher. OS is Win7 64bit.
