I just yesterday upgraded to windows 8.1. I didn't really want to, but it seemed the easiest solution to some issues I was having with my previous copy of windows. Everything was running fine on 7, and after the upgrade I installed Java without a hitch, and I have the most current drivers for my graphics card installed, but suddenly the game will not launch, neither with the latest nor any earlier versions I've tried. If anyone has some insight, I'd appreciate it.
Firstly, why did you install 64-bit windows with only 2GB of RAM? You should have installed the 32 bit version. Now its just using excess resources. Secondly, the Radeon 4000 series is no longer actively supported and is under legacy status. There hasnt been an official release for windows 8.1, only 8.0 http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy2&os=Windows 8 - 64 If you install one of those packages, it may or may not work. Legacy OpenGL support is hit or miss under 8.1.
