I have been having an issue since 1.7 came out but now its getting worse and worse. So what happened is at random times, with or without optifine, at any render distance and any other combination I can think of, the entire game will freeze for between 10 and 20 seconds. The only common factor that I can see is that it always occurs on multiplayer, any server, any internet connection. And its not just like FPS lag, its Frozen (let it go!). I can not leave full screen, pull up the menu, Anything. I launch minecraft with 4GB of memory (although ive tried anywhere from 512mb to 8GB while trying to resolve this issue. I can always run vanilla minecraft at 100+ FPS Max settings and optifine Extreme render distance max settings at 140+ FPS. I am on a Mac but I loaded minecraft on a windows computer of mine and it did the same thing on multiplayer.
Heres my computers specs:
27" iMac
i7 3.4ghz Quad-Core
AMD 6970 GPU
16GB Ram
I've seen a couple more posts on different websites about similar issues, none having been resolved
