I have purchased and downloaded Minecraft 1.7.9. It will not run on the laptop I have for my grandchildren. It works on my laptop (Lenovo ThinkPad with i5 processor and 8 Gb ram) but I do not want them to use mine. Theirs' is my old laptop -- a Lenovo ThinkPad R61e, (Windows 7 pro, 32 bit, 2Gb memory, Intel 2 Duo Core 2.1Ghz processor).
When I try to run Minecraft, I can log in but when I click on play it goes through the download process and then crashes. It throws a Java Runtime error of "Failed to write core dump. Minidumps are not enabled by default on client versions of Windows".
I've followed all of the forums on this problem, updated all drivers, updated Java, and finally stumbled on a site that suggests I install an older version 1.6.2.
So, I try clicking on the link for 1.6.2 on the Minecraft launcher "News" link. Nothing happens. I tried the Mojang site and also had no luck.
What I would really like to do is download a version of Minecraft that will run on this laptop - earlier version or later version, I don't care. I would prefer to play it locally so the kids aren't on the Internet all the time.
How can I make this happen??
Oh yes, I have paid the $26.95.
