I'm extremely annoyed right now, my large archive of older mod versions has just been deleted.
Essentially, there is a new change where if a mod isn't called in an active version.json, it is deleted. Considering I have a lot of older version.jsons that I have stored in a different folder to improve load times (So as to not load ~200 different configurations on starting the launcher,) I've just had around 230 core mods deleted.
Thankfully I had a backup from April Fool's Day, but that was pure luck.
Be wary of core mod installations such as Optifine and Forge, if the profile isn't available then it will be deleted. I've personally been doing a lot of testing for Minecrift, and my extremely large version archive was nearly entirely destroyed.
Setting the mods to Read Only doesn't work either, as the launcher simply whines about it and doesn't launch the game.
I am extremely annoyed by this change, and hopefully this helps someone catch something before they lose their mods.
