Hi! i have looked around at the other forums and cant quite get an answer so im going to try and explain it in a way hopefully people will get.I had Forge a long time ago for 1.7.2, now we are on 1.7.9.I downloaded forge, installed it. It added a forge 1.7.2 profile and all that and when i went to look in my folder, everything was different! there is no bin, or mod folder or anything!
I have already Launched forge in the launcher, and why would the minecraft folder be like this? i have been playing 1.7.9 for like.....a week and a half now. I never bothered to look at the folder but i think Mojang has changed up the folder. But now how do we do it!
THIS IS THE MINECRAFT FOLDER So i saw the versions folder and went there and saw my Forge 1.7.2 folder
THIS IS THE VERSIONS FOLDERBut now im stumped. I went into the forge folder, and opened it up in 7zip, and no mod folder there either!!
THIS IS INSIDE THE FORGE.JARSo what do i do? is there anyone who can give me step by step answers on how to add mods to the new folder system?
I know! Just make a folder called "Mods" in the .minecraft folder! Duuh! Why is this? New versions of Forge (more new minecraft versions) doesen't have everything so probably they didn't implement auto-creation of the Mods folder. Make it yourself and put... NEI in it to test it. tell me if it works.
There is no Forge for 1.7.9 yet, Latest version works up to 1.7.2.
"bin" folder was replaced by "versions" when the new Minecraft Launcher was introduced. If you are using Forge you should never have to mess around in there with manual installs.
"mods" folder gets automatically created when you first launch a Forge profile. It's safe to create it manually.
I know the forge doesn't work with 1.7.9 that's why there is a separate game when you launch for version 1.7.2 And i have launched the Forge game twice and no Mod folder has magically appeared.
Hey man, I just figured this out now. When you have installed mine craft forge and replaced in the versions folder with 1.7.10, you open up the game and in the launcher, click profile, and select Forge. Then open it up, and you're ready to go!

I dont know why you would want to go into your versions folder, theres no reason to. Its done automatically when you open the jar file
i have used 3 versions of forge and i have never come across this problem

I used to have a good signature, but it got nerfed.
I have already started it up though. They stayed the same

It's okay. I just need to find someone who knows how to navigate the new folders lol.
What do you mean by NEI?
