I played minecraft last summer with some friends, so i decided to redownload the game onto the same computer today. After updating java and downloading the newest minecraft.exe, i cannot run the game. When i run the .exe, the launcher does this (my user profile is Minecraft):
Bootstrap (v5)
Current time is May 19, 2014 11:41:34 PM
System.getProperty('os.name') == 'Windows 7'
System.getProperty('os.version') == '6.1'
System.getProperty('os.arch') == 'amd64'
System.getProperty('java.version') == '1.7.0_55'
System.getProperty('java.vendor') == 'Oracle Corporation'
System.getProperty('sun.arch.data.model') == '64'
Looking for update

Reversing LZMA on C:\Users\Minecraft\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\launcher.pack.lzma to C:\Users\Minecraft\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\launcher.pack
Unpacking C:\Users\Minecraft\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\launcher.pack to C:\Users\Minecraft\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\launcher.jar
Cleaning up C:\Users\Minecraft\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\launcher.pack
Starting launcher.
Then a window pops up and says "Java™ Platform SE Binary has stopped working".
I have updated my Avast!, my graphics drivers (GTX660M) and have 8GB of ram. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
You need to reinstall Java.
First, go to the Programs and Features in Control Panel (Add and Remove Programs on XP). Uninstall everything that says Java in the name. Then, go to http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp to re-install Java.
Please reboot after you have uninstalled Java.
