So I updated my graphics card today and ever since I haven't been able to play minecraft.
I have an Nvidia Geforce 745M Graphics card running on version 335.23, the latest one.
I might just be a problem with this version since I was able to play it fine on an older version before I updated it. Any suggestions? Should I revert back to an older version?

I've been looking around on google and found that it might just be a compatibility problem with Windows 8.1 since I'm having a few other problems with my graphics card. (like not being able to open the Nvidia control panel, and not being able to play a few other games.)
according to your dxdiag you don't have any graphics drivers installed
Card name: Microsoft Basic Display Driver
but i would guess the dxdiag is looking at the onboard graphics (most likely intel HD graphics )
but it also lists an nvida card with drivers dated
Date/Size: 10/4/2013 03:58:34, 15743328 bytes
As your having issues with the nvidia control panel i would say it would be a good idea to do a complete uninstall of the nvidia graphics drivers and do a fresh install of them
Laptops also often have power saving setting reguarding graphics and only power up the superior graphics card when needed, being minecraft is a java game the laptop is possibly not seeing minecraft as needing the nvidia card, thus leaving it unpowered and the intel device (with no drivers) is left to try and run minecraft. (which it can't due to no drivers)

Thank you, I got it working again. I put my laptop on performance mode reinstalled the Nvidia drivers and restarted my computer and it works now.
