If multiple people can't play after 1.7, something is definitely wrong with the game. Still, you should check the temperature of your computer and disable any background processes.
Telling OP to "deal with it" won't solve the problem. Maybe it's fine if you have played Minecraft like this before, but something happened to the OP's computer that negatively impacted his gaming experience. If he was playing it fine before, and it changed now, then it's a problem that needs to be fixed. Just saying "ignore it" won't help at all.
OT: Make sure you don't have a lot of programs running on startup. That can lower your computer speed. Also, make sure your processor isn't overheating. That can lag your computer, which I learned the hard way a few months ago.
I'm currently playing 1.7.9, but in the past I have played other versions.
Around 25 to 30 FPS.
Anyone know how to fix this? I've tried Optifine, but it still didn't work.
1.7.9 adds lots more lag

I'm back from my hibernation. Most likely gone so don't pm me.
Um, his game or computer broke. =/ Not his fault your computer stinks, there's no need to be so rude. Most people would prefer to not play a game with 5 FPS if they can do something about and it's silly to tell somebody to just deal with it when they had around 30 FPS on the same machine before. It's not like he's just complaining about it, he's trying to find a solution. Deal with it.

It can also be a hardware issue. When was the last time you scanned for viruses, and what program(s) do you use to scan for them?

Have you tried other versions?
If that doesn't help it could be drivers, in which case we would need a DxDiag.
