This technically is for modded support questions but I put it here for a good reason. While trying to sort out optifine (which never seems like it wants to work no matter how many times I put the files into the minecraft.jar) it refuses to impliment it. If I'm supposed to put it in mods or core mods, the game apparently sure doesn't know this because it acts like the game will explode if left there for any length of time. So I had to completely wipe everything clean to start over from scratch.
But now I got a new problem, for some reason when I get the game files situated the .minecraft has no bin file................and with it no minecraft.jar to change to allow for mods to be added....
Before anyone says how ridiculously easy this is here is my problem list on this topic;
1: I somehow messed up and am starting all over with my installation. The version I am working off of at the moment is 1.5.2 for the fossils and archeology mod.
2: Because I am working of 1.5.2, every single guide I have been looking up prior to this keeps reffering to 1.6 and higher, leaving me completely useless at fixing my own problem, seeing as how 1.6 doesn't have a bin file from what I hear.
3: Because of how there is no relevant help guide for 1.5.2 anywhere (I looked beleive me) I keep going in circles. I even tried going off the previous launcher before the new version and STILL no bin file let alone the minecraft.jar.
All I wanted was to download the friggen optifine mod to increase FPS for god's sake!
With the new launcher all versions of minecraft basically are set up the same.
.minecraft/versions/1.5.2/1.5.2.jar is what you are looking for
But you are asking in the wrong place for help with modding it. All I can tell you is that the launcher will redownload the 1.5.2.jar if you modify it in place.

Yes I know how to handle modding the thing, I explained that at the start. I already know how to mod the game just fine, I was having issues with rebooting the game. But thanks I know what to look for now.
