Apparently I'm not the only one experiencing this problems. I was playing 1.7.9 and then decided to try the new snapshot. But thwn I went back to 1.7.9 a few days later, all of my inventory is gone. Everything else is fine but my chests are completely empty, as are my furnaces, hoppers, and anything else that holds stuff.

I guess the reason for this is the 1.8 coding for blocks is different than the 1.7.x coding, so they don't recognize each other. But I can't imagine it's all completely gone.

Is there any way to recover my inverntory, either in the game release or the snapshot? And can I prevent this in the future (while still playing the release and the snapshots alternatively)?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

OK, that's fine. I'll stick to 1.7 until the update. So how do I recover the items? When I went to 1.7 tonight, they were gone.

Ah crap. You might be right. Still, if I created them in 1.7, wouldn't they be visible when I go back to 1.7? Or does playing on 1.8 do something to the code of those items?

Still, even if it did change the item codes, wouldn't they now work in 1.8? I'm not seeing my items in either version.

Yeah, it's all gone. Time to start over.
