Hi. I've bought the game several months before release and I've played it on and off the whole time. I love playing it and I finally decided to try adding a mod to it. I'm trying to follow the instructions for the Treecapitator mod, which requires Minecraft Forge. I've followed the instructions for Forge, which for the latest version just called for an installer to be downloaded and ran, which created a profile called "Forge" in the new 1.6.1 launcher. It seems to be running fine but when I follow the further instructions for Treecapitator, putting the bspkrs core zip in my mods folder and then the Treecapitator.jar, and run the game it comes up with an error that says:
"Forge Mod Loader has found a problem with your minecraft installation. You have mod sources that are duplicate within your system.
Mod Id: File name
TreeCapitator: [1.6.1]TreeCapitator.Forge.1.6.1.r01.Uni.CoreMod.jar".
As far as I can tell the mod version matches up with my Minecraft version and it's not causing it to crash. I can't see the main menu until I click around blindly, and then I'll find one of the buttons and the menu will come up normally. I can try loading a world, but then it just sticks on the loading screen without doing anything at all, still not crashing.
I've googled this problem and either no one has gotten help with this issue or someone says "delete the duplicates", which I don't have. I've reinstalled Minecraft and tried from scratch and I get this far again. Minecraft Forge installed fine but Treecapitator doesn't. I haven't tried any other mods other than the Timber mod, which does cause a crash but I think that's just because it might be out of date. And no, I'm not trying them both at the same time. Also, no I'm not trying Forge AND Mod Loader at the same time.
I don't have version 1.6.anything...I still run 1.4.6 But, if its still the same, and it probably is, after you install forge, you just put the entire Treecapitator rar file (I use this mod, too) into the mods folder. You don't have to open it or extract a thing.
Treecapitator goes to the coremods folder, it even says so in the file name. and make sure you have it only once. The error report clearly states that you have it installed 2 times, so search your .minecraft folder and all subfolders (especially the mentioned mods and coremods folders) for all instances of treecapitator, and remove them so you'll end up with it only being once in the coremods folder
Hey there, I'm having almost the same problem, but in my case it just tells me that I have duplicates, even though there is only one file. It says this for the duplicates:
Mod ID:File Name
toomuchtnt:TooMuchTNT 2.6
toomuchtnt:minecraft
I'm running 1.6.4 minecraft and all 105 other mods i have work fine... someone help i want to blow stuff up.
Okay so possibly, if the mod is a .jar file, you have run it more than once, so try removing the file from your system, reinstalling it and double click it whilst in your appdata, ONCE
my friend gave me a flash drive with mods on it and when i tried to download them it said that i had duplicates of the keyandcodelock mod and i have never had mods before. what is wrong?

Any tips? Thanks in advance!
No. Coremods and mods folders have been merged in 1.6 for forge. The issue is that the mod is both defined as a coremod and a regular mod. http://www.minecraftforge.net/forum/index.php/topic,9953.0.html

This also happened to me.
With GregTech & GregTech Core
I opened two with WinRAR and realized that we both had "GregAPI" and decided to remove the Core and it worked.
do the same and see what you have to duplicate the two files.
This happened to me when i downloaded PokeCycles.
