I have read all over the place many different ways to give minecraft more ram speed it up what not. so far none of them have worked.
What i've tried
*Changing control panel java runtime parameters
*Attempting to run through .bat file
*changing JVM Arguments in launcher itself
the first 2 did not work at all upon changing the JVM arguments in the launcher to -Xms512M -Xmx2G however minecraft does not launch. if both -Xms and -Xmx to 2G or 2048M minecraft will launch but the max ram will not exceed 455mb.
I have a 64 bit operating system with 64x java (java 7 u55 x64) and 16GB ram. when playing unmodded minecraft i get no lag however when playing my modded versions it maxes out using 80-90% of the 455mb of ram the game is allowing. this i feel is my only problem running minecraft but i cannot figure out how to accomplish increasing ram even just by a little.
Any help would be appreciated. However please do not comment stupid things like upgrade ram, make sure you have a 64 bit java installed. As i have made sure these things are right and will merely waste time. I am only saying this as these are common solutions that are suggested to many of the other forums and posts about similar problems.
Find your Windows Environmental Variables menu and delete JAVA_OPTIONS variable.
Now I've seen cases where that variable wasn't present, yet RAM was still limited. If this is the case for you, try running Minecraft from the jar (Linux) launcher.
