I have no idea how this happened. And frankly it's really making me mad. I have both Railcraft and the Train mod enabled on my 1.5.2 game and I was trying to make some rails to craft the Train Mod's instruction book. The book needs eight tracks with a book in the middle to make the Train Crafting Guide.

However for some reason when trying to make my own rails to get there, the rails don't pop up on the crafting table. I know I used the right recipe to make the rails, as I need three iron on the top row, a stick in the middle, and three more along the bottom to make 16 rails. Whenever I tried this nothing shows up in the GUI. I then tried different configurations in the off chance the recipe changed recently but still nothing.

I then tried to download the crafting guide mod to see if it could answer my questions, the crafting guide mod allowing you a special crafting table with a how to guide on most of the recipes in the game (depending on version), and in that mod to make one of these you need a normal crafting table, four pieces of paper, and four books. When I put them in the right configuration, YET AGAIN I got nothing. The game then crashed soon after for no good reason, it didn't even give me a log.

Why the heck can't I craft rails?! I have been able to craft pretty much everything else I need for my game, but I can't so much as make as a single friggen rail and there is not one recipe guide mod out there that wont crash the game! NotEnoughItems I can never get to work because both it and codechickencore routinely crash my game as well for no good reason, and when I finally managed to get them to not crash the game they don't even show up in the active mods list on the title menu!

Not any recent logs on not enough items, sadly. And the craft guide when I was working with it just shut the game off, no log resulted from that. But I'll try it again to try and find one in case.

ok I got the log for the crash I think is related to crafting guide. In both times I was in creative mode because I wasn't able to craft the guide the crafting guide mod was supposed to give me, so I tried to simply cheat it in and be done with it since I couldn't even craft the guide in creative. That's when the first crash happened and this second one by the same means. If it wont even let me cheat a guide in then I am sure something must be wrong, hopefully this log will tell you what I need to know on how to fix this.

As for the issue of the railcraft.cfg it wont let me access it because when I try to open it it says I don't have the right program to open a .cfg file. As such I can't fix the issue I have with the rails. But I THINK I have acsess to the necessary things to get Creosote Oil, when I tried looking up the crafting guide in creative before I did see the coal coke oven among what the Railcraft items, so I can build one of those easy enough. I don't really need to worry about my rail issues much anymore, but the issue of the crafting guide still bothers the heck out of me.

Anyway, with CraftGuide you should be able to press "G" by default to activate the recipe viewer. You don't actually need to craft the book item.

And kind of a stupid question: That's CraftGuide version 1.5.2 or CraftGuide for Minecraft 1.5.2?

I see, the mod's thread never mentioned that about tapping G. And I shouldn't be suprised that it was buildcraft pipes being the crap I was suffering from, I hear all the time those pipes are a pain to deal with.

And on your question, I am using both the guide's 1.5.2 version for minecraft 1.5.2. I'm working off those builds since the Fossils and Archeology mod has as of yet been unable to go into 1.6 and it's the big thing for me in Minecraft currently.
