Last year I build my own PC and just recently got into modding. I can run a reasonable amount of mods on max settings without lag, but I would like to be able to run more (like CaptainSparklez Ultra Modded Survival amount).
I currently have an Intel i3-3220 dual core (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116775) with this LGA1155 motherboard: (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131835)
I was debating on upgrading to either an i5-3570K quad core (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504) or an i7-3770K quad core (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116501).
Both of these CPUs have the same socket type as my motherboard, but I'm not sure if there is anything else that needs to be checked for compatibility.
Basically my big questions are:
1. Would upgrading my CPU create a more lag-free heavily modded minecraft or do I need to upgrade something else too?
2. Would the i5 or i7 be a better choice? (or maybe even a different one?)
3. Are these CPUs compatible with my motherboard?
Thank you for any help
Additional specs:
MSI R7770 Radeon HD Graphics card
600W Power Supply
8GB RAM (DDR3 1600)
120GB SSD Hard Drive
Hello,
It depends on what type of Mod's you are going to run, If its a simple mod like 'Builder' then most probably no,
But its up to you I'd suggest searching up what Mod's you want and how much: Memory, Ram. You are going to need
I've been wanting to have most of the mods from Direwolf's 20 FTB pack in addition to tropicraft (which requires the weather mod), the orespawn mod, mo' creatures and maybe a few small others. This would be something very similar to CaptainSparklez 'Ultra Modded Survival' series and he is able to run a ton of mods like these while recording without much issue and I'm wondering how him and other youtubers do it.
It would make it less 'laggy' but I can't really tell you how much, what kinda fps are you getting at the moment? I can tell you that I'm currently using the Resonant Rise modpack (~200 mods) and I'm getting about 50-60 fps.
I could run maybe half of the mods from Resonant Rise on around 60fps. My fps stays stable until im at a certain amount of mods.
Here is a rough list of what I'd like to run:
NEI
Biomes O' Plenty
Orespawn
Galacticraft 2
Mo' Creatures
Tropicraft
The Mists of Riov
Hardcore Ender Expansion
Twilight Forest
Tinkers Construct
Forestry (more bees, magic bees)
Mariculture
Industrial Craft 2
Buildcraft (thermal expansion)
Iron Chests
Applied Energistics
Ender Storage
ChickenChunks
Project Red
Thaumcraft
Extra Utilities
Factorization
MineFactory Reloaded
Gravity Gun
Portal Gun
WAILA
Backpacks
ComputerCraft
Damage Indicators
I could run maybe half of those but at a certain point of adding them I get unstable frames (one second 60fps, next second 3fps) along with shutting down internal server, etc.
