So Minecraft is lagging, even though I've dedicated 2GB of my RAM to it. I usually get approximately 45-50 frames per second, though when I added the GLSL Shaders today, my fps was completely flushed, averaging at about seven frames per second. I've never gotten this low of fps when I added the shaders mod, I would usually get 20-30 fps when adding a shaderpack. Does anyone know how I might be able to fix this?
This statement isn't actually true, I have 8GB of RAM.
Awesome. Have a cookie.
The fact of the matter is that it is true. Whether you want to hear it or not. Whatever shaders pack you're currently running is too intensive for your GPU and you should consider getting a less intensive pack or simply not using shaders. Your RAM is irrelevant here. Alternatively you can turn down your settings. Smooth Lighting is a major one that people over look. Turn it off all together and you'd be surprised what it can do.

I gained literally 5 fps by turning smooth lighting off. Thanks?
Options> Video settings> Performance> Change Smooth FPS to something else.

I tried it and gained 14 FPS (with mods) on the least intensive shaders.
Who needs a cool looking Realistic Shadow.
And awesome lighting, cool water reflections....
The night sky, clouds.....
It all sounds pretty tempting but... Pfft who needs it.
(I gained 30-60 FPS with a mid-tier Shader Pack on vanilla)
(But who plays vanilla?)
