Please help. On a PC, running windows 7. New to Mods. Can't get 1.6.4-forge9.11.1.965 to work. It loads if I don't delete meta-inf and I can even see the Mods box and the mods I drag into the folder. But they don't load. Then when I delete the Meta-inf folder I can't load the game at all. It just stalls and returns to the main screen. I've tried just about ever tutorial on the internet. I keep starting with a fresh version of the game, but nothing helps. What am I doing wrong please?
1. dont delete the meta-inf folder. 2. make sure the mods you are putting into the mods folder are either a .jar or .zip. also, make sure to see how you install the mod you want on that mod's forum page. you may have to drag all the contents of the mod into the .jar in the versions folder.
Thank you so much! I will take a look at the instructions for loading the mods again then. I've been so caught up in trying to delete the Meta-inf folder that I assumed that was the problem. Every tutorial I've seen insists that Mods will not run while it's there.
Those are probably old tutorials, MANY mods now use a mod loader to run like Forge and they will not require the META-INF to be deleted. There may be the odd mods still out there using that method but it's not common to see anymore.

yea. any mod that uses forge will not require you to delete the meta-inf folder as when you install forge, it replaces the files inside the meta-inf folder, causing those old files in there to be useless.
I deleted meta inf reinstalled repaired redownloaded install file i cant find minecraft.jar or meta.inf and when i search for anything the forge.jar files come up
