I have no clue what is going on. But ever since 1.5 rolled around, no mods have been working. At all. I've been looking around Google and Minecraft forum and it seems like i'm the only one. Is anyone else having this problem? Or is it just me?
The mods I've been trying to use are Forge, TMI, and Optifine. All that are updated, and i'm pretty darn sure i'm using the latest build of Forge (but they make a new one like every second you can never keep up)
I've been doing this like I've always been, and I didn't start a new trick or anything, same as I was back in 1.4.7. I would go into my minecraft.jar, click "add", find my files and drag 'em in! I tried Forge and it gave me black screen, and same with Optifine. I was using Optifine A8 and my "mods" folder for Forge was completely empty. TMI didn't give me a black screen but instead didn't decide to do jack squat.
Is there something i'm missing? I don't if this is something different, but i'm pretty frustrated right now. Can somebody please help me?
This is a list of details that might help:
Minecraft 1.5.1
Optifine A8
Forge 7.7.0.605
TMI 1.5
I know to delete META-INF but not META-INF in the Forge files
Mods folder is completely empty
That's all I got. Anyone have any idea what's going on? I feel like this is going to be one of those posts where the answer is super obvious and i'm going to look like an idiot... so sorry if it is.
Open your minecraft.jar file and the universal zip file. Drop the contents of the zip file into minecraft.jar then delete the files in META-INF which begin with MOJANG.
If using a mod manager, place the forge zip under the jarmods section.
Maybe you could try and use MultiMC, it has a forge downloader/installer built into it too

Be sure you are also replacing the files that Forge has edited.
Would having GuiAPI 1.4.6 be causing the problem? I got rid of GuiAPI 1.4.6 and download GuiAPI 1.5.1. Now when I load up the game with just Forge it crashes saying it failed to start the game. This is the crash log:

But if I just don't use GuiAPI at all, it works. I feel like GuiAPI is the problem, but I need it for mods, don't I?
Moar edit: Apparently I didn't have GuiAPI 1.5.1 I had 1.5. Im still having problems with modding. Forge and Opifine are fine, but when they are both in use a black screen occurs. TMI still doesn't do anything.
Even moar edit: Problem solved. Forget this ever existed. Ever.
its because the mods just wont want to load,if you get a black screen close minecraft and force update minecraft,it wil overwrite EVERYTHING but the mods in the minecraft jar file then close mc again and redelete meta inf and redrag all the mods in again then play minecraft. if it doest work keep trying until it works! hope this helped!
Forge and optifine don't play nice together sometimes
use a clean jar delete the 2 files that say mojang in the meta inf install forge(drag everything from the zip into the jar then install optifine after forge, install Not enough items instead of TMI (nei plays better with Forge)
I've even got a similar problem, ever since 1.6 came in (I still play in 1.4.7) Minecraft started, the MOJANG page came then a blank black screen came up. Before 1.6 came out I had 137 mods installed which worked (not using MagicLauncher). Anyway i hadn't updated my launcher.
