And YES, allocation IS necessary, in case anyone got the idea to say it wasn't (there seems to be a LOT of people like that). Both the Minecraft launcher and Java limit Minecraft to a strict 1024MB max RAM. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be enough for the Technic packs. Can this thread's results be duplicated on the technic launcher? And if not, can you help in some other way? I've tried .bat files with no luck. I tried them, got a 'Java not a recognized command', fixed that and got: Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.
I heard one fix was this alternate .bat command line:
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xms2048m -Xmx2048m
I tried to modify it for (x86) with no luck. Please help!

More details? are you 64bit? if so you just go to Technic launcher top right options button click it then click the drop-down of ram and select what you want. If your not 64bit then it wont allow it therefore i don't believe its possible . look around on google if your 32bit hope i helped although i probably didn't at all happy Minecrafting! Sssssss

I'm running 64-bit, but it won't go above 1 GB. On 3.7 total available, is it possible to get it to 2 GB allocated?

Well windows itself uses 1 GB of ram to run and minecraft uses around 1 GB ram by default so your computer may restrict you to add more and i wouldn't because it could cause blue-screens etc etc
Most likely I'll just buy more RAM, but additional info could help.
Yes ram is pretty cheep and i would say why not get like 3-4 more GB if you have the money! If you know anything about crash reports with mods then would you mind checking out my recent post? i need to fix it
