Hi,
A few things to accomplish for my son's MC install. First on the list is bumping RAM allocation. We are running a Windows 7 64 bit OS with 8GB of RAM, and am having trouble getting MC to recognize anything above the default 1GB. I go into "Edit Profile" and change the JVM Arguments to 2G, and get a "Could not create a Java Virtual Machine" error. I've tried changing the wording to 2048M instead of G, but still get the error. Sorry if these questions have been covered before, but some of the instructions I've read are a bit confusing for a non-IT guy like me ;-).
1. Do I need to be running Java VRE 64? We are running 32 bit.
2. If so, can I add 64 bit Java, or do I have to uninstall 32 bit first? Currently I'm running 32 bit versions of I.E. and Firefox.
3. If yes to #2, how where do I put the 64 bit version, and how do I make sure Minecraft can find it, and it doesn't interfere with 32bit for browsers.
When I get this working, can I bump the RAM higher than 2 GB without problems?
Thanks,
MC Dad
