I'm just wondering if what I'm seeing in my debug info overlay is odd behavior or just normal.
I have a moonquest modpack (minecraft 1.6.4) containing 97 mods according to the ingame info text.
I've allocated 4GB using the technic launcher for this modpack and windows task manager reports javaw.exe is using 2.525GB and this is when I've loaded a fresh minecraft world default generation, no resource pack loaded. No shaders activated.
So far I think that is normal right?
But when I open my debug information the used memory is constantly increasing and resetting again, which I find weird as there is no chunk updates taking place (esc int ogame menu), it's usually moving up from like 500Mb to 1500Mb pretty fast, then resets to 500 again and repeats itself for ever.
Allocated memory says 53% (1929MB).
My system: i5-4670k, 16gb ddr 3, nvidia 780ti and an samsung 840 evo ssd.
Yet I am not able to play this modpack with up to 13GB of memory allocated to the game and a 128x resource pack, 64x works without a problem, but 128 just crashes when loading the game.
Is this behavior normal or is something leaking memory? and if so, any suggestions on how to find out what it is and how to solve it?
